SA NEWS: Lockdown on SA religious activities will be mitigate
https://naijafakaza.com=> Addressing the nation on Tuesday evening, 26th of May, on the call for a prayer day, The President, Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the lockdown on religious activities will be eased.
“This evening, I would like to address you on matters that are of great importance to many people in our country – firstly, the call by
religious leaders for a day of prayer as the country unites against the
coronavirus pandemic, and, secondly, the decisions of the National
Coronavirus Command Council on proposals made by religious leaders on
the gradual resumption of certain religious activities,” he said.
On Sunday, the President announced that the lockdown will move to alert level 3 starting from June 1. However, as regards religious activity, there will be rules to guide the people.
“Churches, synagogues, mosques, temples and other recognised places of worship may resume services, but these will be limited in size to 50 people or less depending on the space available.”
“Social distancing will have to be observed and all worshipers and participants will have to wear face masks in line with the current regulations.”
As regards the call for a Prayer Day, Cyril said mzansi will pray for the healing of the land and the people on the 31st of May
“I therefore urge all South Africans to heed the call of the leaders of our various faith communities for a national day of prayer on Sunday, the 31st of May, when we will once again come together to pray for the healing of our land and the protection of our people,” he said.
